The Hunt Part 2

So it turned out that that particular house was not possible as was under contract for cash. I am still not certain that the house in question was not a qualification technique used by the agent that was contacted by Stephanie. But at least I had a realtor now. As opposed to the realtor I spoke to back in the previous year that seemed to not care unless I had a lot of money to spend.

My daughter was heading back to college. After several disappointments on houses no longer on the market due to offers pending or just taken off by the owners, I was getting discourged. It was late July. Part of the problem was my criteria tht the house had to be older than I am, I needed an office with a door I could close and at least 2 more bedrooms. Plus storage.

We had moved from a farmhouse converted to four apts, one for each floor. That meant we had come from a 2,600 sq. ft apt and moved to a 1,254 ft. house. We had gotten rid of a bunch of stuff and the landlord said it was small. Most of our stuff was in the enclosed garage. There were a lot of houses in the Athens area that met or exceeded what we had, but some not for sale and many were in the historical district which translated to lots of money for upkeep.

We were getting ready to shut it down unless we fond something before Oct. and pick up looking again in March. Silly us thought closings happened in a few days. Stephanie had called and we set up four possible houses to look at. I was sure we would have time to see at least three and we hoped all four. There were 2 weeks or so before Chaos went back. It was a date.
